In this edition of our Employee Spotlight, we're excited to shine the spotlight on Jerome Sandrone, an Aerospace Specialist in our SaaS Sales department at TrustFlight. With a rich background in aviation and a passion for innovation, Jerome brings a unique perspective to our team.
Jerome's journey in aviation began long before his professional career. Born near Le Bourget airport in France, he grew up watching airshows and marveling at the sight of business jets and legendary aircraft like the AN225 with the Buran space shuttle, the B2, and Concorde. His 18th birthday was marked by an unforgettable gift – a flight on the iconic Concorde. "I always wanted to work in aviation," Jerome shares, "and this is obviously something I ticked off my list."
Jerome's professional path in aviation has been as diverse as it is impressive. He began his journey at an aeronautic school in the South of France, learning to become a Flight Dispatcher. His career then took him to Luxembourg, where he spent 18 years with a business aviation company, progressing through roles including Flight Dispatcher, Head of Dispatch and Reservation, and eventually moving into the Safety and Compliance team.
It was in his role as Deputy Safety and Compliance Manager that Jerome first encountered TrustFlight's product, Centrik. This experience would later pave the way for his transition to TrustFlight in September 2019.
As an Aerospace Specialist in SaaS Sales, Jerome's role is multifaceted and impactful. He is involved in market research, product demonstrations, and long-term projects supporting existing customers. One of Jerome's significant projects involves working on a templated Centrik system for Avia Solutions Group, the world's largest ACMI operator, to integrate all their subsidiaries globally.
What Jerome finds most rewarding about his work is the tangible impact it has on the industry. "The reward comes when we are able to support new companies in obtaining their AOC, or to help existing companies struggling with paper to digitize their operations with our solutions and facilitate their day-to-day work and life," he explains. "By doing so, we improve Safety in Aviation."
For Jerome, the most challenging aspect of his job is keeping up with evolving regulations and understanding the diverse needs of customers operating in different locations with varying requirements. He approaches these challenges with enthusiasm, viewing them as opportunities for growth.
"For my job, I need brain plasticity, the ability to read a room of aviation specialists to understand their needs and to propose the most accurate solution with minimum burden to them," Jerome says. "I approach those challenges as new objectives, it means that no day will be similar to the previous one. I'm here to improve on a daily basis."
Looking to the future, Jerome sees TrustFlight playing a crucial role in the ongoing digitization of the aviation industry. "We have more than 12 years of accumulated knowledge that we can share with companies still relying on paper or spreadsheets," he notes. "Our products help humans to focus on their core job instead of asking them to be specialists in spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations. We save time and stress, leading to a safer work environment."
When he's not revolutionizing aviation technology, Jerome enjoys unwinding through various activities. He's an avid walker, exploring nature and cities whenever he has the opportunity to discover new countries. His love for food leads him to culinary discoveries during his travels, and he enjoys cooking at home.
Sports also play a significant role in Jerome's life. He has a background in basketball, having played and coached in clubs. Now, he shares his love for the sport with his son, along with volleyball and mountain biking.
Drawing from his rich experience, Jerome offers inspiring advice for young professionals looking to make their mark in the aviation industry:
"Put your foot in the door, be curious, open your eyes and ears. The Aviation Industry is a small welcoming world where you can have an impact on something that still makes children look at the sky when they hear an aircraft. Don't only think pilots, there are a lot of unexpected works available, such as in the Aviation Software industry where we can have a massive impact, meet a lot of professionals from a lot of different cultures from across the world."
Jerome Sandrone's journey from an aviation-enthusiast child to an Aerospace Specialist at TrustFlight is a testament to the power of following one's passion. His work continues to shape the future of aviation technology, making the skies safer and operations more efficient for companies around the world.
